Why this happens
Previous addresses appear on your credit report when they’re reported by lenders or linked via the electoral roll.
Not all previous addresses will always show. If you lived at an address for a short period and had no credit accounts linked to it, it may not appear on your report. The same can apply to electoral roll data if you were only registered briefly or if that time period is already covered by other addresses.
If an address is missing, it doesn’t always mean something is wrong - especially if changes were made recently.
What to do
1. Check the timing
If you’ve recently updated your address with a lender or registered on the electoral roll, allow up to 6 weeks for your credit report to update.
Lenders typically report information to Equifax once per month, so changes are not reflected instantly.
2. Check with your lenders
Ask your lender(s) to confirm if the previous address is recorded on the relevant account(s) and has been reported to Equifax.
If the address was recorded in a slightly different format, this can sometimes prevent it from linking correctly.
3. Check Royal Mail
If the address was a new build or had an unusual format, you may want to check it exists and is formatted correctly on Royal Mail’s Postcode Finder.
Make sure the address appears exactly as shown, including flat numbers, building names, or floor details.
If the address is still missing after 5–6 weeks
If you’ve confirmed the address is recorded correctly with your lenders but it still isn’t appearing on your credit report, you should raise a dispute with Equifax so they can investigate why the address hasn’t been linked to your credit file.
