Important to know
Your address options in ClearScore come from your Equifax credit report.
If your current address is missing, it usually means:
your lender(s) haven’t updated it with Equifax yet, or
Equifax hasn’t linked it to your credit file yet,
and/or your address isn’t yet reflected on the electoral roll (your local council).
What to do
1. Check your address format on Royal Mail
Before contacting your lenders, it’s worth checking that your address is formatted correctly and consistently.
You can check your address using Royal Mail’s Postcode Finder.
Make sure your address appears exactly as shown on the Royal Mail website, including flat numbers, building names, or floor details. Using the same format everywhere can help Equifax link your address correctly.
If your address is missing or displayed incorrectly on the Royal Mail website, you can report it using their “incorrect or missing address” option.
Royal Mail can only add addresses that are able to receive mail. Updates are usually processed within a few working days, but in some cases can take up to 6 weeks to be reflected across other organisations’ systems.
2. Update your address with your lender(s)
This is the most important step. Make sure your:
bank(s)
credit card providers
loan, BNPL, or finance providers
all have your correct current address.
It’s also important that your address is recorded in the same format with all providers (for example, flat number, floor, or building name). Choosing one consistent format helps Equifax link your address correctly.
3. Check your council / electoral roll
If you’re registered to vote, confirm your address is correct with your local council. Electoral roll data can help Equifax link your address history correctly.
3. Wait for your credit report to refresh
After updates are made with your lenders and/or the council, they will report the information to Equifax. It can take up to 6 weeks for the address to show on your credit report in your ClearScore account.
When the address is added to your credit report on ClearScore, it also becomes available in the address drop-down in My Account. The final step is selecting the correct address from the list.
If the address is still wrong after 6 weeks
If you’ve updated your address with your lenders and council but it still isn’t showing, please contact us using the chat bot on the right-hand side of this Help Centre.
We can update the address on your ClearScore account. You would only need to raise a dispute directly with Equifax if, after the address is updated, your accounts still aren’t linked correctly.
