Why this happens
The addresses you can select in your ClearScore account come directly from your Equifax credit report address history.
If an address isn’t showing in the drop-down, it usually means Equifax hasn’t received or linked that address from:
your bank(s) or lender(s),
and/or the electoral roll (your local council).
In some cases, the address may not be available to select if it hasn’t been fully linked on your credit report.
What you should do
1. Check your address format on Royal Mail
Before contacting your lenders, it’s worth checking that your address is formatted correctly and consistently.
You can check your address using Royal Mail’s Postcode Finder.
Make sure your address appears exactly as shown on the Royal Mail website, including flat numbers, building names, or floor details. Using the same format everywhere can help avoid delays or mismatches.
If your address is missing or displayed incorrectly on the Royal Mail website, you can report it using their “incorrect or missing address” option. Royal Mail can only add addresses that are able to receive mail.
Updates usually take several working days to be processed, but in some cases can take up to 6 weeks to be reflected across all systems.
2. Check your address with your bank(s) and lenders
If you live in a new build, conversion, or hard-to-find property, your address may not yet be recognised consistently.
Contact any bank, lender, or credit provider you use and ask them to confirm:
your current address is correct, and
it’s recorded consistently across your accounts.
You can start by checking your online statements or banking app, but if anything looks wrong or inconsistent, you’ll need to contact the provider to update it.
3. Allow time for your credit report to update
Once you’ve updated your address with your lenders and/or the council, they will report it to Equifax.
It can take up to 6 weeks for the new address to start showing on your credit report on ClearScore.
When your new address is added to your credit report, it will also start showing in the address drop-down in My Account. The final step is to select the new address in the drop-down.
If it’s been more than 6 weeks
If you’re confident your address is correct with your lenders and the council but it still isn’t showing on your credit report, please contact us using the chat bot on the right-hand side of this Help Centre.
We can update the address on your ClearScore account. You would only need to raise a dispute directly with Equifax if, after the address is updated, your accounts still aren’t linked correctly.
