To deal with a deceased loved one’s credit report matters, it’s best to go directly to the UK credit reference agencies (CRAs) - Equifax, TransUnion and Experian.
They should be able to provide a copy of your loved one’s credit file, and importantly, should be able to place a 'Deceased' alert on their credit file to prevent potential fraud.
When contacting the CRAs, you’ll usually need to provide a copy of your loved one’s death certificate, as well as documentation confirming that you're authorised to act on their behalf (ie. proof of probate).
It's best to contact all 3 to cover all bases, as they’re separate entities.
It could also be worth looking into something like the Deceased Preference Service, which is a free service that helps protect your loved ones from identity fraud after death.
You may also find Equifax’s article 'Death and credit reports' useful for general guidance on credit matters.
