A notice of correction (NoC) is a short statement - up to around 200 words - that you can add to your credit report to explain important context. For example, you might include a note if you missed payments due to redundancy, illness, or another one-off situation.
This doesn’t change your score, but it lets lenders see your explanation when reviewing your application.
What a password NoC is
A password NoC adds an extra layer of protection if you’re worried about identity fraud. It tells lenders they must contact you and request a specific password before processing any new applications in your name.
How to add or remove a notice of correction
To add or remove a NoC - including a password NoC - you’ll need to raise a dispute with Equifax, our data provider.
You can also contact Experian and TransUnion directly if you’d like the same note added across all your credit files.
