If something is incorrect or missing from your report, you can follow these steps to get it fixed:
1. Contact the bank/lender/local council/court or financial institution directly
Your quickest option is usually to contact the provider to see why this information isn’t showing correctly. If they agree to share this information, they’ll give the changes to Equifax (our partner credit reference agency). This should update in your ClearScore credit report within 5 weeks.
2. If your lender agrees – they’ll give the changes to Equifax
Sometimes, the credit provider may not agree with your correction. If this is the case, they’ll need to provide you with reasons why they disagree. If you’re not satisfied with the actions made by the provider, you can raise a dispute with Equifax.
3. Raise a dispute with Equifax
If you’re unable to get this resolved with the bank or lender, you can ask Equifax to look into this. We get all your credit report data from Equifax, so any changes to your report will need to be made by them. Before you raise a dispute – make sure your ClearScore email address is verified.
